American Paint Horse Association Humanitarian Award Ezra Cooley and "Big Red"
The American Pint Horse Association honors Ezra Cooley and his Paint Horse, Just A Gelding, also known as "Big Red,"
with its Humanitarian Award.
During their remarkable 8,000-mile journey across the nation, Ezra and Big Red exemplified the sprit that has made APHA and our breed so outstanding.
Ezra's compassion to do great things through the Power of Paint Horses and commitment to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network make him truly deserving of this honor.
We salute Ezra, Big Red, and their pack horse "Stryker" as they continue their amazing journey to help those in need.

Wild Horse Racing
The craziest part of me can be described in one word, "Rodeo", and in three words, "Wild Horse Racing". I used to ride bulls and occasionally broncs. But it is in Wild Horse racing where I find my match. What is Wild Horse Racing? Well to put it simply it is probably the most dangerous event in the Rodeo circuit.
The rules are simple:
Be the first team the have a rider between and two strides past a set of pylons. Usually this will have a time limit of 2 minutes. There will be three guys, a shank, mugger and rider. The shank's job is to hold the rope and mugger's job is to hold the horse's head. The goal for both of these guys is to keep the horse from moving while the rider saddles the horse and mounts him. After that it is hang on at all cost. See videos for the Oregon Molalla Buckaroo here.
Ezra's Secret
How does a young man crisscross twice across the United States alone on horse back, and then attempt to survive the wild and crazy down under of Australia? Ezra says, "It's by the grace of God and one miracle at a time." He is fully aware of who is in charge and his job "is easy...all I have to do is sit in my saddle and let God do His work." He is blessed time and time again by the hospitality of all the people that God puts in his path.
Many people have posted sightings explaining how meeting Ezra has been a blessing to them. The people that Ezra meets along this journey may not realize how much they are a part of this adventure; of letting God be in the driver's seat and hanging on for the ride of a lifetime. Ezra has a heart to help God's children. The ultimate success of this adventure will be if even one person allows God into their life!
